At the end of the day I think this write-up is a bit harsh and doesn’t totally represent my feelings on the matter. That said, I think a very dangerous thing has been going on lately, which is that major label artists (like Sky and Charli) are being marketed as DIY.

Yes, anyone out there with an artsy aesthetic gets referred to ‘indie’ whether or not they’re actually on an independent label and it’s pretty annoying. It’s been going on for awhile though.
